Aglianico
Aglianico is thought to have come originally from Greece and its name is said to come from a corruption of the Latin for 'Greek vine'. Planted primarily in southern Italy, in Basilicata and Campania, it works well as both a dry and sweet red. Full-bodied and powerful, with deep colour and concentration, it is the the grape for Aglianico del Vulture which is the only DOCG in Basilicata.
